Artsy Tuesday - Rachel Austin

I introduce to you Rachel Austin from Rachel Austin on Etsy. She lives in Portland, Oregon {love..considering my dad is from Oregon} and has been painting full time for the past 5 years. She began as an artist building tables and went on to woodworking at the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts. Rachel says when not painting she can be found 'digging in her garden or stomping around in rain puddles with her two year old'. Her art theme is abstracted pieces of landscape, flight, moments of beauty, and circles.

Rachel's work is absolutely beautiful. I love how she incorporates old maps into some of her pieces. I also love the colors she uses when painting. For some reason her art to me is so calm and soothing {I know kind of weird, right?}. I can also see the Pacific Northwest theme she has going on. I hope to one day relocate to the Pacific Northwest myself so I need some of her work {Christmas list!} especially until I relocate. It can be a great reminder of what I miss and where I want to be. Absolutely wonderful! So take a look at some of my favorites and let me know which ones are your favorite!

Great, right? Rachel also has a great blog called Paper & Planes and a Rachel Ann Austin website. On her blog she shares with her readers what she's currently up to and shares beautiful pictures of her work and adorable daughter. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do!
