The Duchess

If you remember in November I did a post on the great fashion from the film, Marie Antoinette {right here}. Well I also wanted to share with you all the fashion from the film, The Duchess. I have only watched it a few times, but every time I oooh and aaah over the costumes, in particular the ones Keira Knightley wears in the film. They are beyond gorgeous! If you haven't seen the film, you need to. Its a little sad, but its worth the watch.

The Duchess is based on the life of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire {played by Keira Knightly} set in the late eighteenth century. She was famous for her beauty and fashion, but infamous for her gambling. Georgiana is married to the cold and much older Duke of Devonshire {played by Ralph Fiennes}. In the midst of her husband, the Duke, being unfaithful to her, she becomes a fashion icon, doting mother, and political operator. Her husband eventually has an affair with her best friend, Lady Bess Foster {played by Hayley Atwell} so she decides to take a lover, the future prime minister, with whom she gives birth to a secret child.
