Artsy Tuesday - Matte Art

I introduce to you Matte from Matte Stephens on Etsy. He is a 37 year old artist living in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Matte gets his inspiration from Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and artists like Ben Shahn and Paul Klee. Matte has done many illustrations for Herman Miller, American Express, Chronicle Books, NPR, and Disney.

I absolutely adore Matte's work. I think it is so whimsical and fun. The colors he uses in his pieces are fantastic. You can tell he has a wide range of artistic ability. Some of his work would be great for a children's room or nursery, while others simply perfect for anyone's living area, such as in a wall gallery. Check out some of my favorites below.

Aren't they great? I think my absolute favorite is the Seattle Limited Edition print. It is amazing! I think I will definitely be adding it to my art collection soon. Matte has a great blog to check out also. So go take a look at his Etsy shop and tell me which one's your favorite!

I love your Arty Tuesday posts but they're so dangerous for me- I keep buying prints that you feature!

Awww thanks so much Kit! I know its sooo hard for me not to do the same. If I had it my way I'd be filled to the top with every artists work I feature! This is one reason why I am creating a HUGE wall gallery in my living room. I hope to share that one day when I feel its done, but maybe I can sneek a few in progress pics soon.

Frances, he does do some work for children's books. I don't know which ones, but I'm sure if you were interested you could contact him through Etsy or his blog!
