Bits of My Weekend

Happy Monday ya'll! It's October 1st!! How was your weekend? Do anything out of the ordinary or spectacular? Get anything accomplished or work on any home projects? Did anyone catch the season premieres of Once Upon A Time, Revenge, and/or 666 Park Avenue last night? If so, what did you think? I loved them! Overall, I had a good weekend. Of course it wasn't long enough for me, but it truly never is. On Friday I ran a couple of errands including browsing my local Hobby Lobby, while Ian was at work. Friday night we went on a couple's date night with friends. Then Saturday I cleaned a little and worked on some small projects around the house while Ian watched soccer and football all day. It was for the most part relaxing and enjoyable. Plus, it rained all weekend here and you know I love the rain! If only it was a little longer. I would so work 4, 10-hour days every week just to have 3-day weekends! Anyways, here are some pictures from the weekend.

I would just like to say that I can't believe that Christmas stuff is out already and its only 3 months away! Crazy! Hobby lobby had a small section of Star Wars Christmas goodies. Ian and I are total Star Wars loving nerds so it was so fun to browse. I was also loving those pretty gold glittery glass Christmas trees (whoa that's a mouthful!). Hmm..I'm thinking maybe trees of all kinds (glass trees, bottle brush trees, etc., you get the pic) on my mantle for Christmas. I think it would look so fun and something different for me since I seem to decorate the same every Christmas it seems.

How freaking adorable is that owl ornament. I think I browsed all of the ornaments for about a half hour and then came across this cute little thing. I knew I had to get it right away because first of all I loved it and second Hobby Lobby has a tendency to not carry things again if they run out, meaning once they are gone they are gone! I finally got around to putting hanging hardware on these Anthro inspired faux metal letters I diy'ed awhile back. They turned out great. All you need is paper mache letters, black acrylic paint, silver metallic paint and a brush then walla! Super easy, just paint on the black let dry then paint on the silver. And, they look very similar to the $18 Anthro letters. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much on each letter considering I was spelling out BAKERY for the kitchen.

Ms. Bella and her photo bombing self. She's such a ham! And, very photogenic. I was teasing her a little with a pair of chopsticks. She loves the attention so didn't mind at all. For some reason she loves sitting on the table. It's her spot. Thank goodness we don't use our kitchen table very often because I would have to wipe it down all the time!

Well it was inevitable, but I had to move some things around. Greedy little paws kept playing with my fall branches I had arranged in the silver vase. I was finding all sorts of little pom poms from the branches on the floor and at $3.50 a pop I had to move them out of their reach. I actually bought some more and they are now on the mantle. And, they totally destroyed the moss. I haven't quite decided yet what I want to put around the pumpkins on the cake stands, but it has to be something the furbabies won't mess with. By the way strangely enough they don't bother that flower. Guess its not challenging enough for them.

My little haunted house my mom gave me a couple years back. I love it! It lights up and makes scary sounds which is super fun! If your wondering its part of the Halloween Dickens series. My fall wreath I made out of yarn and felt. If I can get my act together maybe I'll do a little diy tutorial on it, or better yet if your interested in having one yourself I would be willing to make some. So if you are interested just shoot me an email and we can talk about it! This one is smaller than a regular size wreath, but I can do regular sized ones.

My Halloween mantle which is still in progress. There are the fall branches, where the furbabies can't get to them! The mercury glass vase the branches are in is from Pier 1 (you cand find it here). The plush looking Halloween figures, both black cats, are by Annalee purchased from a local doll shop and TJ Maxx. The other figures are by ESC, given to me by my mom. She knows how much I love Halloween! The mantle clock also came from the local boutique she works in. The mercury glass pillar holders are from Pottery Barn (you can find them here). The orange pillar candles are from Pier 1. The silver owl candle was an after Christmas find at TJ Maxx. The old window is from my late Great Uncle's farm in Quebec. The wreath and banner I made.

The pumpkins are from my local grocery store. The pumpkin head figure is from Pier 1. The small ivory jug vase is one in a set from Pottery Barn (no longer available). The spider actually is from a web and spider set. I just put it there for safe keeping right now, but I kind of like it there. I'm still playing around with the mantle a bit. I don't know that I'm in love with the way it is now. I may add some moss to it. At least, the furbabies can't get up there to destroy it.

Have you put up any Halloween decorations yet? Are you excited that it's officially fall now!? xoxo, Kayleigh.
