Crazy for Chevron

So I've been thinking about buying a chevron indoor/outdoor rug from Ballard Designs for under my kitchen table. Why an outdoor rug, you say? Well because I have three furbabies and accidents happen and it will hopefully make it ten times easier to clean {since they've now ruined 2 beautiful sisal rugs I had under there before}. Not to mention this rug is priced amazingly! Now here's my dilemma. I'm really loving the chevron pattern lately, but I'm so afraid the chevron look will fizzle out soon and I'll get sick of looking at it. Any suggestions? I personally love this look, but I don't know, I can be so indecisive sometimes! Take a look at the rug in the below picture.

You like? Should I do it? What color? I'm trying to decide between the grey and the black one since my main color in the kitchen is kiwi green, the appliances are stainless steel and black, and the wall color is that pretty gem from Benjamin Moore that you can see below. I am, however, at this point leaning more towards the black because I think it will stand out more and I don't know if the grey of the rug is the right color.

In the spirit of my chevron dilemma I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite pictures from around the web, where people have incorporated chevron into their decor.

What do you think? All opinions welcome! These pictures make it so tough not to say, 'Let's do this!'

Oh, If I could Own a Fabric Store

I don't know about you, but I absolutely love fabric. Now a little back story, I don't necessarily know how to sew, other from taking a homec class in high school, I never really showed interest in sewing or fabric for that matter until recently. My mother is and has been a great sewer and a very talented one at that, so you would think I would have been way more enthusiastic about it growing up, but I wasn't. So I asked my parents for a sewing machine last year and got an awesome one for Christmas with the intention of making something fab, but I haven't made time to pull it out and learn {I know shame on me and shhh don't tell my mom}. So getting back to fabric. Even though I don't know how to sew {YET} I always try to incorporate fabric in around the house no-sew diy projects. I've covered my office pin board I don't know how many times, even bought fabric to make a no-sew table runner and cover a table to make an ottoman. I just can't help it, fabric makes me giddy. I love the beautiful colors that are out and all the fancy shmancy patterns available. I had talked about some fabric before on this blog {you can find it here, can you tell it was when I first started blogging, awful} and since then I've been yearning for all sorts of beautiful fabric hence the title of this post. If I could own a fabric store...I would be in some trouble! So take a look at some beautiful fabric I've been wanting.

Do you love fabric too? Is it one of your weaknesses like mine?

Artsy Tuesday - Small Talk Studio

I introduce you to Alyssa from Small Talk Studio on Etsy. She is an illustrator living in Minnesota. Alyssa's work she says 'is made with love, as I strive to keep my products colorful, fun, and affordable.' Her goal is to brighten someone's day with her work and add some fun to any home or work space. Her shop includes stationary, screen prints, and digital prints all of which are from Alyssa's original work.

I really adore Alyssa's work. I think it does represent who she is and is super fun and colorful. The colors she uses are beautiful! She is one really talented lady and it is clearly shown through her work. I think her pieces would go well in any place in your home and definitely bring in character. So take a look at a few of my favorites from her shop.

Aren't they great? I think my all time favorite is the Choose Your Own Path Art Print. It is wonderful and so very true on how life should be. So go check out her shop, tell her I sent you and come back and let me know which ones your favorite.

My Weekend in a Few Pictures

Ian blowing out the candles on his birthday cake, technically not this past weekend, but last Wednesday.

A piece from the Strawberry Mousse cake I ordered for his birthday from a local French bakery.

The meat roasting at the New Orleans 2012 Greek Fest. The gyros were to die for and so juicy.

The flags at the festival lining the bayou where people could rent kayaks and boat around.

The view from the parking garage where we parked to go walk around downtown New Orleans. The church you can see in the distance is the St. Louis Cathedral.

Ian having a beer at an Irish Pub in the city that we like to go to.

This odd horse stool Ian and I both sat on at one point while having drinks. I thought it was hilarious.

Me drinking a nice cold rum punch. The bartender made a mean rum punch. So yummy! Can you tell how hot it was outside from what I looked like? Definitely a hot mess! Oh and by the way it was 95 degrees, already! Can we say disgusting?!

Also,

A huge thank you to all those serving or that have served in the United States Armed Forces and especially the ones who have died protecting our freedom and our lives. Words can not express my gratitude!

See you tomorrow!
