Minted.com

While reading one of my favorite blogs last week I came across this great site called Minted. Kirsten from Restored Style had talked about some of her favorite prints from the site {check out Kirsten's blog, it's one of my favorite daily reads}. Minted is a global community of graphic designers, as well as an online store where you can purchase the best of their designs in the form of paper goods such as art prints, cards, wedding invites, and more. I am really glad I came across this great site and wanted to share my favorites, as well from it. There are some really talented designers out in today's world and I'm glad there's a site that showcases their work and you can support them by purchasing their work.

Aren't these some great designs? So if you have never heard of Minted or haven't stopped by the site then do! There is truly something for everyone!

Thanks Kirsten for introducing me!

Period Film: Sense and Sensibility

Another one of my all time favorite period films is Sense and Sensibility which stars Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, and Hugh Grant. It is another classic adaptation of a Jane Austen novel of the same name about a man who dies, leaving his second wife and three daughters poor by the rules of inheritance. The two older Dashwood sisters {Winslet and Thompson} are total opposites of each other and the story follows their struggles and the romances they have after their father dies. I thought all of the actors did an outstanding job at playing their characters. It's just a really good story filled with a beautiful English setting and wonderful costumes! I always loved the fashion of this time period. Woman back then wore such beautiful and elegant dresses, as well as pretty hats. So without further adieu, here are some photos from the film.

Love it! I think this was the first Jane Austen film I ever saw at the early age of 10. My mom is and has always been a huge Jane Austen fan so ultimately she introduced me. I share her love for period films and history. Have you seen this film? Do you love it as much as I do? If you haven't seen it you simply must! You will not be disappointed, I promise!

Artsy Tuesday - Water In My Paint

I introduce to you Deidre from Water In My Paint on Etsy. She is a watercolor artist working out of her studio in Toronto, Canada. She says, 'I was first introduced to illustration while studying Fashion Design at University, before that I never really drew at all! Despite being able to use any type of material and medium for my fashion illustrations it was watercolour that drew me again and again. It still draws me.' The fashion industry for her wasn't working out so as an escape she returned to illustration which soon after became her living. Her themes include mostly animals and food and her work has been featured on many blogs, as well as the front page of Etsy!

I really adore Deidre's work. For someone who really didn't start drawing until college it surely doesn't show. She is really talented and her work is beautiful. I also love the quirkiness in her pieces and how fun they are. They would look good in any place in your home and definitely give it some great character. So take a look at some of my favorites from her shop below.

Aren't they wonderful? I think my absolute favorite is the Owl Headphones Painting. I think its adorable and would look great in my office! Deidre also has a great website where you can see all of her work and you can take a look at her blog. So stop by her shop and let her know I sent you then come back and tell me which ones your favorite!

My Weekend in Pictures

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! I sort of had a busy one and felt like I was none stop. Let's just say starting off my work week was miserable hence why this post is getting posted so late! Well enough of my whining here is my weekend in some pictures.

We got our shop on at the home depot and brought home some plant life! Cactus and some other succulents to be exact. They had all different colors of cactus and I was super giddy the whole time we were there. Kind of weird, I know...

But now our deck looks oh so fabulous and absolutely colorful {well semi fabulous, we need some more plants and need to power wash and stain our deck}! I even managed to buy a bird feeder for Bella. She loves to watch the birds and squirrels out the back window of our condo. She's kind of obsessed {oh to be a cat}.

A close up of our colorful cactus! The blue pot holds an orchid plant one of my boyfriends co-workers gave us. He grows them which I thought was cool.

Photo bomb when I was out on the deck snapping pictures. They are so cute. Look at Bug sniffing Lily's tail. What a goofball!

Saturday morning we decided to take a ride to New Orleans to do some browsing. Of course, we had to stop at our favorite place first to get our caffeine on. There's nothing like a nice hot vanilla latte in the morning to kick start your day!

We stopped by this nice garden center because I was looking for hydrangea pots and they had a whole setup of outdoor furniture on the inside and I thought this set was beautiful!

We went to lunch at one of my favorite spots in New Orleans called Saki Cafe. Yes you guessed it, they have amazing sushi and I just love the atmosphere.

The boyfriend acting goofy.

I got my favorite, the Philadelphia roll with salmon and cream cheese along with a delicious salmon skin roll! Yummers!

Then, of course, we stopped by Whole Foods before trekking it home to get some cheese, pâté, salmon and a bottle of this great moscato I discovered! I love Whole Foods! It's definitely my guilty pleasure since it can get pretty pricey if your not careful.

So how was yall's weekend? What did you do? Anything fabulous? I'm just glad that tropical storm Debby isn't headed our way so hopefully we can get some more sunny weather and I can get my tan on this next weekend.

Period Film: Pride & Prejudice

One movie that I can say is one of my absolute favorites is the new version of Pride & Prejudice starring Keira Knightly, Donald Sutherland, Judi Dench, Rosemund Pike, Carey Mulligan, Jena Malone, and Matthew Macfadyen. Anytime this movie comes on TV I am watching it or I'll watch it just for fun when I'm by myself or with my mom {of course her favorite is the older version starring Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier} on one of my days off. I've seen previous versions of the title, but this one seems to be my fave! Of course, as most of you may already know, Pride & Prejudice is based on the novel by Jane Austen.  Its the story of 5 sisters set in Georgian England whose lives are forever changed when a young man, Mr. Bingley and his best friend, Mr. Darcy, arrive in their town on holiday. Of course, it wouldn't be a Jane Austen themed movie without plenty of drama or beautiful England 1800's era costumes. I especially love the outfits that Elizabeth {Knightly} and Jane {Pike} where throughout the film. They are simple, but elegant and just plain beautiful. Oh, what it would be like to live back in that era for one day and experience it all. Here are some great pictures from the film.

If there is any chance you haven't seen the movie then you must! It is a very beautiful film. I highly recommend it and hope you love it as much as I do!
