Halloween Decor

I'm starting off the season early this year, but I can't help but ohhh and ahhh over the latest Halloween decor that has been coming out. I mean Halloween is in exactly 35 days (counting today) and it will be here before you know it so why not start to decorate, right? I've seen a number of people already getting on the ball and going all out this year. It makes me so happy because this is my favorite holiday, hands down. I don't know if its the inner child in me or just that I'm a huge fanatic for scary movies and pumpkins, but it gets me all giddy inside. I even usually start planning out what Ian and I will be wearing for costumes earlier than now, but this year have fallen behind a bit due to the storm. I'm thinking maybe Mary Poppins and Bert!? It was one of my all time favorites growing up. Hmm...I haven't decided yet. So anyways here are some fun Halloween decor I've been swooning over.

Now if that doesn't get you all excited then I don't know what will! Have you started decorating or even planning your costume? If so, please share! xoxo, Kayleigh

Artsy Tuesday - Marmee Craft

I introduce you to Marjorie from Marmee Craft on Etsy. Sound familiar? If you've been a follower for awhile now you'd probably remember that I featured her work in December of last year (you can find that here). And, I wanted to reintroduce you to her and show you some of her newer work. She is a wife and mother living and working in the mountain forest of North Carolina. Marjorie's inspiration comes from nature, music, old literature, 19th century folk art and fashions, and many more wonderful things.

I absolutely adore Marjorie's whimsical and fun work. There is just something about her pieces that draws me in. Every piece tells a story and that may just be why I love it so much. I think the colors she uses are beautiful and the characters are fabulous. I have a couple of her prints now since doing her last feature and they are are just beautiful in every way. She is also one of the sweetest people I've come across since starting this blog and I'm so glad I am able to share her work with you. So here are some of my new favorites.

Beautiful, right? My absolute favorite is the Mr. Owl's Ascot Print. Marjorie also has a very sweet blog where you can follow what she's up to and see what she's working on. So go take a look at her shop and tell me which ones your favorite! xoxo, Kayleigh.

Information about Marmee Craft was provided by Marmee Craft or taken from their profile on Etsy or personal site/blog.

Maple Glazed Ribs

Here is the Maple Glazed Ribs recipe I promised you all earlier last week. It it super delicious, very hearty and really simple to make. It pairs very nicely with rice. I hope you try it out and if you do please come back and tell me how much you liked it (I am confident that you will).

Ingredients:
Country Style Ribs (I fit about 6 ribs in a 9x13 dish)
1 cup real maple syrup
2 Tbsp ketchup
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp worcestershire
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 dry mustard

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Arrange ribs in a 9x13 glass dish. I like to sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the top but you don't have to. Bake ribs for 30 minutes. While the ribs are cooking by themselves combine all ingredients together in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until it comes to a boil. When ribs are done pull them out and bring the oven temperature down to 350 degrees. Pour the sauce over the ribs, using all of it. (Note: when first putting the sauce on the ribs it will be light in color, but after it cooks it will be dark.) Cook the ribs in the 350 degree oven for 1 hour. You can occasionally check on the ribs and spoon some of the sauce over them as they cook. Let rest after for about 10 minutes before eating.

I hope you enjoy this recipe (even though the awful picture does not do it any justice whatsoever)! See you tomorrow! Enjoy...xoxo, Kayleigh.

Have You Heard About: Terrain

A couple of months ago I came across this great shop while browsing Pinterest called Terrain. Although its not a new store it is however new to me and I am fascinated by the things they sell. They have the most beautiful of things and reasonably priced too. The first thing that caught my eye on their site was these little guys (Mason Jar Shaker Set).
I was totally smitten and had to order. I got them in and they are absolutely perfect! I am so glad I took the leap without knowing anything about Terrain and ordered. It came on time and so well packaged. I definitely recommend them! So here are some other things I've been totally crushing on from them.

Have you heard about Terrain? Visit their site yet? Order anything good? xoxo, Kayleigh.

Have You Heard About is a regular feature that I do every once in awhile as I find new and amazing stores that are too good not to share. You may have already heard about them, but usually they are 'new(er)' to me. I was not paid or given perks to talk about this store. This is just my little ole opinion.

Period Film: Atonement

Well I just realized that I haven't done a period film post in awhile and I don't know why because everyone seems to enjoy it so much. Shame on me! I wanted to share with you today a more recent period film that I liked, Atonement. Now I enjoyed this movie and thought it was beautifully done, but its not a film I can watch all the time because its super sad, especially the ending. I'm such a huge fan of Keira Knightly and James McAvoy that I super thrilled to see them in this movie together. And, the outfits Knightly wears in the film are downright gorgeous. This was also one of Saoirse Ronan's first movies as well and I thought she played the character of Briony Tallis so well. She was even nominted for a whole slew of awards for the part.

Atonement is a 2007 British romantic war drama starring Keira Knightly, James McAvoy, Saoirse Ronan, Juno Temple, Romola Garai, and Vanessa Redgrave. It is a film adaptation of a 2001 novel with the same name by Ian McEwan. The storyline takes place in the 1930's and Briony Tallis (Ronan), a 13 year-old girl from a wealthy English family, has just finished writing a play. When Briony tries to stage the play with her cousins they get bored and decide to go swimming where Briony stays behind and witnesses a moment of sexual tension between her older sister Cecilia (Knightley) and Robbie Turner, the servant's son (McAvoy). Come to find out Briony has had a childhood crush on Robbie even though he is much older than her. Robbie goes home and writes several letters to Cecilia, including one that is risque, but he doesn't intend to send that one. On his way to join a Tallis family celebration, Robbie asks Briony to deliver his letter, but later you find out that he accidentally gave her the risque one. Being the nosey little 13 year-old that she is, Briony secretly reads the letter and becomes more suspicious of Robbie's intentions with her sister and somewhat jealous. During the celebration Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for one another and Briony sees what happens next and then from there everything spirals out of control. I won't spoil the rest for you because you need to watch it, but Briony does something unthinkable that has dire and longlasting consequences that effect everyone in the story for the rest of their lives. I do have to warn you though the ending is super sad. I'm not going to lie, I cried. So when watching it make sure your well equipped with some tissues!

So here are some beautiful pictures from the film I wanted to share with you all.

Isn't that green dress Keira Knightley wears in the beginning of the film absolutely stunning? Ahhh, I just love it and its the perfect shade of green. It seems every film Knightley is in she has the best attire. And, of course she always looks beautiful and super thin (not saying I envy the thin part, but thats what she is). So I really hope you watch this film if you already haven't and enjoy it as much as I did, although I guess its not for everyone. Have you seen the film already? I'm dying to know if you liked it or not. xoxo, Kayleigh.

Period Film is a regular feature that I do every so often where I share with you all my favorite period films and usually mention the beautiful attire/costumes worn in the film(s).
