Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and give you a little update. This weekend has been interesting to say the least. As I explained last week I went in Friday morning to have an exploratory knee scope done. I was super nervous when I showed up the nurses even joked around a little with me on how they could tell I was, but everything went pretty great in the end. I was nervous for nothing. The hospital I was at was super great and the staff was amazing. They took really great care of me while I was there. It was an outpatient surgery so I showed up at 6 am and was home by 10:15 am which was pretty amazing to me. That even includes a trip to the pharmacy for medication. Come to find out I had bone that was pinching some tissue in there and also had a dent in one of my bones which I don't think they can do anything about, but was interesting to hear. My orthopedic surgeon fixed me all up and sent me home. I go back to see him next Monday to get some more details on how the surgery went, where we go from here and to get my stitches out. I was very relieved to hear that the source of my pain was found and hopefully taken care of. What a relief!
I've been home since the surgery and Ian has been so helpful! He's been taking care of me, cleaning up and cooking some yummy food. I am very lucky to have him. This experience has been sort of weird. I came home Friday wide awake and able to limp around already a little. I think I was still hyped up on all the medication and anesthesia they pumped into me. Saturday was tough. I felt really bad for some reason. Sunday was the first day I could actually take a shower which was rough and exhausting. Today a little better, but still in pain. I've been really uncomfortable when it comes to sleeping and what not though the whole time. Let's just say pain meds have been my best friend these past few days. It'll be interesting to see what the next couple of days bring, but I'm hoping for a fast recovery. I'm really just ready to be back in action and back to my normal self.
The left picture above is on Sunday after I took a shower for the first time. I hadn't taken the gauze and wrap off since surgery so I had no idea what my knee looked like. Kind of scary considering I've never had surgery or stitches before. And, not to mention my leg was bright orange from the surgery and I had and still have a bruise across my thigh from the balloon thing they wrap around it to stop blood flow to my leg so they can perform the scope. The right picture is what my bed looks like today. I'm being lazy while catching up on television shows and reading my favorite daily blog reads.
