So back in July I told ya'll a little about what was going on with me knee. I had just made an appointment with a local orthapedic surgeon (given the history of me playing college soccer along with banging my knee into a table in January 2012 that's who I was recommended to see). He initially took an x-ray which showed up nothing and told me that it looked like I had some inflammation so he gave me a cortisone shot, gave me some meds, and sent me on my way, telling me that it should take care of the problem and I should probably have no further pain. Well about 3 months later the shot wore off and my knee started to hurt again. Off to the doctor again who then sent me to physical therapy for 2 weeks. The therapy only aggervated it more, but I knew it was going to. So I went back to him again and he finally wanted an MRI done which at this point I was already annoyed because he should have done that in the first place, but I'm not going there. I went and had that done the next day which showed nothing. Talk about frustrating! So his solution was to give me another cortisone shot as a last resort kind of thing. That once again did absolutely nothing and this time the pain never even went away.
The next step after all of that was to schedule an exploratory knee athroscopy. I didn't want to have it done during the holidays so I scheduled one for January 18th. So on Friday I will be going in for this lovely procedure which I'm actually really nervous about. Everybody keeps telling me not to worry about it because its a pretty common procedure, but I can't help it. I'm naturally nervous about everything and have never had surgery before. I will be knocked out for it and probably won't remember much which I guess is a good thing. I am also taking a week off from my regular job so I can rest and recover properly. I will try to blog early next week, but I'm not making any promises. I just hope this scope can once and for all rid me of my pain and give me and the doctor some answers as to why I'm having such pain! Has anyone had one of these done before? If so, any stories?

Good luck in your procedure! I'm sure everything will go fine. :-)
Thanks Susannah! I appreciate it! xo, Kayleigh
I went through a similar situation. Last year I fell down the stairs and landed on my knees. My left knee hurt like crazy that day but after that it was fine so I decided not to go see a doctor. However, I started to notice that whenever I had to walk a lot or go up and down the stairs many times, my knee will start to bother me. After a few weeks I decided to go see an orthopedic surgeon and like yours he first took an x-ray, found nothing, gave me strong pain medication, asked for an MRI, nothing again, and finally gave me a cortisone shot.
After the shot it hasn't hurt as usual as before, but I still feel pain every once in a while. My boyfriend (who is an MD) told me to just take pain killers and rest the knee using a knee brace whenever that happens, since they had already done an x-ray and MRI and nothing was wrong/ And it really works when I do that so I haven't been back to the doctor.. He said that getting cortisone shots very often makes the knee kind of addicted to them? I don't know how to explain it, but like if you get the shots then your knee is going to need them every once in a while to be fine.
Anyway...good luck with your procedure! I would love to hear what they find.
Hi Daniela, yea the next step after all of that for you would probably be what I'm going to be having tomorrow. With cortisone shots you have to be careful because apparently its been proven to make muscle deteriorate if you take too many of them. So many people who have had scopes before have told me I should feel so much better after so I'm going to give it a try. If I require major knee surgery I'll have to really think about it because I've heard so many horror stories! Its something I think I'd put off for awhile. Thanks for wishing me good luck. I appreciate it! I will definitely update everyone with the results as soon as I know something. I am also super curious to find out whats going on. Thanks again. xo, Kayleigh
