Period Film: The Young Victoria

The Young Victoria is a lovely period film that came out in 2009 starring Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Miranda Richardson, Mark Strong and Jim Broadbent. The film was written by Julian Fellowes (he is recently known for Downton Abbey). It is based on the early life and reign of Queen Victoria (Blunt), as well as her marriage to Prince Albert (Friend). The film shows how she was brought up under a strict set of rules by her mother, the Duchess of Kent (Richardson) and the comptroller of the Duchess's household, Sir John Conroy (Strong). Then proceeds with how she becomes Queen at 18, she meets her future husband Prince Albert (Friend), and the early stages of their marriage and her reign. The film is absolutely gorgeous and is definitely one of my favorite period films to date. I thought Emily Blunt's performance was wonderful and she played the part of Victoria so well. In addition to playing such a great role, she got to wear the most loveliest of costume. So take a look at some pictures from the beautiful film.

Doesn't Emily Blunt look absolutely stunning in everything she wears? I am a huge fan of hers! Has anyone else seen the film? If so, what did you think? I think I'm going to watch it again while I'm recovering from my knee scope over the weekend. I just love it and totally recommend seeing it if you haven't.
Period Film is a regular feature that I do every-so-often where I share with you my favorite period films and usually mention the beautiful attire/costumes worn in the film(s).
